The CASwell CAF-0120 is a fan-less networking appliance for small to medium-sized organizations and enterprise branch offices. This desktop device in a compact form factor is destined to be used as security solutions like VPN gateways or NGFW (next-generation firewalls) that use the processor-integrated acceleration of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The CAF-0120 can protect company networks even better from cyberattacks through AI, while also serving as a secure SD-WAN solution to provide fast and reliable networking for remote branch locations due to its high-speed Ethernet ports. The CAF-0120 uses the latest generation of Intel® Atom® SoC called “Amston Lake”, that supports AI with Intel’s Deep Learning Boost (DL Boost) through its Gracemont architecture with Vector Neural Network Instructions (VNNI), that improve AI performance especially for inferencing. The CAF-0120 leverages the Atom® x7211RE of this CPU family to make the device an ideal platform for AI-powered cybersecurity. Examples are VPN gateways, that use AI to optimize finding the fastest and most secure server for connecting to remote locations, or NGFW with AI capabilities to more effectively identify both known and unknown threats within network traffic. The Intel® Atom® x7211RE can accelerate these tasks at a mere 6 watts of power consumption, while handling up to 16GB of main memory, eMMC and/or a SSD for storage space and four 2.5GbE RJ45 ports. All this is possible without noisy active cooling, as the processor can be cooled fan-less. Additionally, the CAF-0120 can optionally be equipped with a DisplayPort for external monitors and an onboard secure crypto processor to support TPM 2.0 for higher security through trusted authentication. The CAF-0120 offers various differences to its sister model based on the same CPU family, the also passively cooled CAF-0121. While the previously released model has 8GB RAM and eMMC storage onboard, the CAF-0120 uses a SO-DIMM slot for up to 16GB memory and features one M.2 slot for a SATA SSD for more storage space next to the optionally available eMMC onboard storage. The new appliance also offers two instead of one USB 3.0 port and an optional video output (DisplayPort), while the CAF-0121 possesses one MicroSD card slot instead. With these two models, the customer now has one more choice when looking for compact devices based on Intel® “Amston Lake” CPUs and can pick the one that’s more suitable for specific needs or usage. The latest Atom® “Amston Lake” processors based on the “Gracemont” architecture are not only faster than their predecessor using “Tremont” because of higher clock speeds and bigger integrated cache sizes, they are also more power-efficient because of an improved manufacturing process. They furthermore support hardware virtualization and Intel® OpenVINO™ toolkit, with pre-optimized libraries for artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and computer vision acceleration. The CASwell CAF-0120 is a compact, quiet and energy-efficient system for AI-powered cybersecurity solutions like VPN gateways and NGFW. It’s designed for small to mid-sized businesses or remote branch offices of larger cooperations that want to protect their network from bad actors and establish a secure and flexible software-defined network.

The CASwell CAR-2090 in low-profile 1U form factor is an upgraded and enhanced successor of the widely adopted CAR-2080. This server system offers multiple configuration options for professional security applications like firewalls and unified threat management (UTM) to effectively protect company networks. The CAR-2090 is based on Intel®'s 10th core generation ("Comet Lake") and can be equipped with Xeon W-1200E or Core i3- to i9-10000 and even Pentium or Celeron processor models that provide up to 10 cores and 20 parallel threads while staying at or under 95 watts thermal design power. This server system offers two DIMM slots for up to 64GB DDR4-2933 main memory and ECC depending on CPU model and PCH. This ensures the solution can handle demanding and advanced network tasks while staying cool and energy-efficient. Depending on PCH choice by customer the CASwell CAR-2090 offers six or eight Gbit-Ethernet ports supporting two pairs of Network Bypass 4.0. This can be expanded to 20 GbE ports with an optional CASwell NIP or NIN module with up to eight network ports and one internal daughter board for four more Ethernet ports (RJ45 or SFP) when the Intel® W480E PCH is used. Both CASwell network module and daughter board are connected to the main system by high-speed PCI Express 3.0. By standard, the CAR-2090 features four internal SATA 3.0 ports for storage (one for SATADOM). When the W480E PCH is used, there is one M.2 slot available onboard for a fast PCIe NVMe or SATA SSD. The LCD module in the front of the device holds one 2.5-inch SATA disk tray for storage but that EZIO module can be changed to an ISAM module for two front swappable 2.5" SATA drives.Besides traditional network security applications such as firewall, VPN, IDS/IPS, anti-spam, anti-virus, UTM and WAN, the CASwell CAR-2090 can also be used for software defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) applications as well as network management applications such as virtualized data center, ADC, QoS, server load balancer, wireless controller, and industrial automation control via Ethernet TCP/IP.
