The Intel® oneAPI DPC++/C++ Compiler’s integrated support for Altera FPGA has been removed as of the 2025.1 release. Altera® will continue to provide FPGA support through their dedicated FPGA software development tools. Existing customers can continue to use the Intel® oneAPI DPC++/C++ Compiler 2025.0 release which supports FPGA development and is available through Linux* package managers such as APT, YUM/DNF, or Zypper. Additionally, customers with an active support license can access the Intel® oneAPI DPC++/C++ Compiler 2025.0 via their customer support account.

Hardware Requirements

CPU Requirements

Systems based on Intel® 64 architectures below are supported both as host and target platforms.

  • Intel® Core™ processor family or higher
  • Intel® Xeon® processor family
  • Intel® Xeon® Scalable processor family

Requirements for Accelerators

  • GPUs:
    • Intel® UHD Graphics for 11th generation Intel processors or newer
    • Intel® Iris® Xe graphics
    • Intel® Arc™ graphics
    • Intel® Data Center GPU Flex Series
    • Intel® Data Center GPU Max Series
  • FPGA (2025.0 only), one of the following:
Target Intel® FPGA Devices Intel® Quartus® Prime Software Edition

Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition 
versions 22.3 to 24.2

Intel® Quartus® Prime Standard Edition version 23.1std

NOTE: For Intel® Quartus® Prime operating system support for each version, refer to OS Support for Altera® FPGA Pro Edition Software Versions and OS Support for Altera® FPGA Standard Edition Software Versions.

  • 16 GB is for CPU and GPU development
  • 64 GB for Intel FPGA development

NOTE: For Intel® FPGA development, Intel recommends configuring your system to provide virtual memory equal to the recommended physical RAM necessary to process your design.

GPU Driver for Linux*

  • Level 0 and OpenCL  graphics drivers are required to be installed
    • To install the Linux General Purpose Intel GPUs (GPGPU) Driver, see the installation guide and follow the directions for your device.
    • Recommended driver versions for 2025.0 - LTS Driver: 2350.103, Rolling Driver: 2437.26
    • Recommended driver versions for 2025.0.1 -  LTS Driver: 2350.125, Rolling Driver: 2441.21
    • Recommended driver versions for 2025.1.0 -  LTS Driver: 2350.136, Rolling Driver: 2507.12

NOTE: For hardware compiles on FPGA, you must download Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software and BSPs separately. See Install Software for Intel FPGA Development Flows for more information.


Developer Tools

  • Supported minimum versions of distributed libraries that the compilers are built on: GCC - 7.5.0, BINUTILS- 2.30, GLIBC-2.28, G++ - 7.5.0. If the highest version of GNU gcc used doesn't have the equivalent g++ package installed, the customer will run into an error.   • Eclipse* developers: Eclipse 4.32
  • GPU Development:
    • Latest Intel® GPU drivers from General Purpose GPU Drivers for Linux* Operating Systems. To install the Linux General Purpose Intel GPUs (GPGPU) Driver, see the installation guide and follow the directions for your device.
    • Recommended driver versions for 2025.0 - LTS Driver: 2350.103, Rolling Driver: 2437.26
    • Recommended driver versions for 2025.0.1 -  LTS Driver: 2350.125, Rolling Driver: 2441.21
    • Recommended driver versions for 2025.1.0 -  LTS Driver: 2350.136, Rolling Driver: 2507.12
  • Development with Intel® oneAPI DPC++ Library:
    • Use of the range-based API requires C++17 and the C++ standard libraries that are included with GCC 8.1 (or higher) or Clang 7 (or higher).
  • A known issue is causing linker errors while using Link Time Optimization(LTO) on RHEL. To resolve the issue, make sure the following minimum versions of binutils are installed:
    • RHEL 8: binutils 2.30-82.el8
  • OpenMP development:
    • libffi.so.6(default version on Ubuntu 18.04). Users with newer OS versions will need to specifically install libffi.so.6.

Summary of Intel Integrated Graphics (GPU) Development

  • Intel® oneAPI tools support for integrated graphics processors is available on 11th Generation and newer Intel® Core™ Processors. 
  • Supported Linux kernel: 4.11 or higher deployment is required
  • Supported minimum versions of distributed libraries that the compilers are built on: GCC - 7.5.0, BINUTILS- 2.30, GLIBC-2.28, G++ - 7.5.0. If the highest version of GNU gcc used doesn't have the equivalent g++ package installed, the customer will run into an error.   • Latest Intel® GPU drivers from General Purpose GPU Drivers for Linux* Operating Systems.
  • You should be on the "video" group to access hardware. Use the command below to add:
    $ usermod -a -G video $USER
