On April 2, 2025, Intel plans to discontinue the Intel® Software Guard Extensions (Intel® SGX) Attestation Service Utilizing Intel® EPID. This includes all active API versions. As previously planned and communicated, Intel has limited access to the IAS Development environment as of September 29, 2024.
Your Action May Be Required
Active consumers of Intel SGX Attestation Service Utilizing Intel EPID should assess their attestation needs and work to migrate to one of several solution options. Attestation alternatives offered by Intel include:
- Intel® Tiber™ Trust Authority – a Zero Trust attestation software as a service (SaaS)
- Intel® Software Guard Extensions Data Center Attestation Primitives (Intel® SGX DCAP) with ECDSA-based Attestation
Intel will provide periodic reminders as the discontinuation timeframe approaches.
Background
Many Intel products that originally supported Intel SGX and enabled the use of Intel SGX Attestation Service Utilizing Intel EPID have exceeded or are approaching their end of servicing lifetime dates. More recent products exclusively support Intel SGX DCAP with ECDSA-based attestation. Intel is electing to focus future enabling support on more recent products.
